About Zelt:
Zelt is a progressive web app (PWA) designed to support digital nomads in trip planning, budgeting, and community building driven by passion and curiosity.
Role & Project Overview:
I led the Zelt project from start to finish over 12 weeks, covering all stages from user research to final prototypes. My role included user interviews, UX/UI design, and creating a product roadmap.
Problem:
lack comprehensive support for digital nomads to manage trip planning, communicate with like-minded travelers, and handle finances across countries.
Objectives:
Understand nomads’ pain points and needs in planning and financial management.
Design a cohesive platform that integrates these functionalities.
Challenges & Constraints:
Access to Engineering Team: Limited collaboration for final implementation.
Tight Deadlines & Budget: Required prioritization and efficient decision-making.
Approach:
User interview: I conducted secondary research and user interviews with 5 digital nomads to identify their pain points and usability issues with existing solutions.

Affinity mapping: Identify common needs and pain points Digital nomads faces while managing their finances.
Insights gathering & synthesis: Putting everything together, and highlighting actionable insights.
Design System Creation: Developed a robust design system, including UI components, patterns, and documentation, to ensure consistency and efficiency across the app.
Key Insights:
Community Communication: Digital nomads value connecting with others to make informed decisions.
Financial Tracking: Essential for maintaining budget goals and managing expenses across borders.
Usability Preferences: Desktops are preferred for planning; mobile is used for quick tracking.
Outcome:
Developed a validated, user-centered design ready for implementation. Usability tests confirmed an improved experience for planning trips, managing expenses, and engaging with a nomad community.

Mistakes I did/lessons learned:
Not leaving a space for participants in the screener survey to express themselves: Sometimes, even the best screener doesn't uncover all the details of a person's experience.
